privacy policy

effective 31 august 2026

The Drunk Chicken was built privacy-first. there are no accounts and no servers of ours. the only third party involved is the ad network that shows a banner during gameplay, and the app never asks to track you across other apps. this policy explains the little bit of information the app uses and where it goes.

no servers no accounts no analytics of ours one ad banner, gameplay only no tracking no data sold game data stays on your device
  1. we operate no servers

    the app has no backend. players connect directly to one another over a local, device-to-device connection using apple’s Multipeer Connectivity framework. we, the developers, receive nothing — we have no server that your information passes through or is stored on.

  2. information stored on your device

    to make the game work, the app stores a small amount of information locally on your device only:

    • the player name you choose;
    • your date of birth, used once to confirm you meet the legal age requirement;
    • your acknowledgement of the in-app disclaimer; and
    • your game preferences.

    this information is kept in your device’s local app storage and is never transmitted to us.

  3. information shared between players

    when you join a party, your chosen player name and your in-game actions are shared directly with the other players’ devices in your party so the game can be played together. this exchange happens peer-to-peer between devices and is encrypted in transit. it does not pass through us, and we never receive or retain it.

  4. camera

    the app requests camera access for a single purpose: scanning a QR code to join a party. images from your camera are used only to read the code in the moment and are never stored, saved, or transmitted.

  5. local network & bluetooth

    the app uses your local network and bluetooth to discover and connect to nearby players. these are used only to maintain the direct connection between players in the same party and are not used to track your location or identify you.

  6. notifications

    if you allow them, the app may show local notifications (for example, to let you know it’s your turn). these are generated on your device and are not sent through, or visible to, us.

  7. advertising (Google AdMob)

    the game is free because a single banner ad appears at the bottom of the screen during gameplay. ads are served by Google AdMob, part of Google LLC. no ads appear on the intro, age check, lobby, or settings screens, and we run no analytics or tracking software of our own.

    to deliver and measure ads, Google may collect information from your device, including:

    • device identifiers other than the advertising identifier (the app never requests tracking permission, so the advertising identifier is not shared);
    • your IP address, which Google may use to estimate an approximate location;
    • which ads were shown and how you interacted with them; and
    • crash and performance diagnostics tied to ad delivery.

    we never see this information in identifiable form, and we do not sell your personal information. Google’s handling of it is described in Google’s privacy policy and how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

    no tracking. the app does not request apple’s tracking permission, so it cannot follow you across other companies’ apps and websites, and the ads you see are not personalised to you.

    consent where required. in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and US states with privacy laws, a consent message appears before the first ad and lets you choose how ads are personalised. an “ad privacy options” link in the app lets you revisit that choice later.

  8. children’s privacy

    the app is intended only for adults of legal drinking age and is not directed to children. we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under that age.

  9. data retention & deletion

    your game information lives only on your device, so you are in control of it. deleting the app removes the information it stored, and you can change your saved name or preferences at any time within the app. information collected by Google for advertising is retained under Google’s policies; the links above explain how to review and control it.

  10. third-party platforms

    the app is distributed through the apple app store and relies on apple’s operating-system frameworks, and it shows ads through Google AdMob as described above. your use of the app store, your device, and Google’s services is also governed by apple’s and Google’s privacy policies. we do not control and are not responsible for their practices.

  11. changes to this policy

    we may update this policy from time to time. the “effective” date above shows when the current version took effect. material changes will be reflected here.
